Lieutenant Henry Craven St. John; in command of her Majesty’s gunboat Opossum, has been this day promoted to the rank of commander in her Majesty’s fleet, in consideration of the skill and judgment displayed by him in effecting the destruction of a large piratical force of Chinese junks, without lo*s in the attack and capture.ADMIRALTY, April 13.Mr. Frederick Thomas has this day been promoted to the rank of boatswain of the second class, for gallantry in action against pirates.
