! .Progress Report Planned jApril 13 On Local Mallcontaining two auto service cen-A progress report from the developers of the 51-acre Frederick Towne Mail will be presented April 13 to the Frederick City Planning Commission.The report on the regional shopping center, one of the largest enclosed shopping centers in Maryland, is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the Board Room of City Hall. The meeting is open to the public.Larry Johnson, consultant for the City of Frederick in planning and zoning matters, said the meeting is being held to inform the public and city officials on the latest developments on the regional shopping center.“All the rezoning changes necessary for the development of the Frederick Towne Mall have been completed and approved,” Johnson said.The shopping center will be located along U.S. 40 west of Frederick and north of the junction of U.S. 40 and U.S. 40Awith an announced initial sitegrading date scheduled for this 1 summer and an operdng date set for spring 1971.The architect’s plans for the shopping center indicate one large enclosed building with stores on two levels, and threeadditional buildings, possibilityters and a food store.The architectural style is colonial and the center will be In some ways similar to Montgomery Mall, located near Washington, which has 720,000 square feet of store area for 60 stores and located on 55 acres with parking for approximately 4,000 cars.The Frederick Towne Mall has a planned store are of 630,000 square feet for an estimated 56 stores. The ground level will contain 486,00 sq. ft. of floor space.
