STACEY: George Edward Stacey passed away at Hillcrest Place on Sept. 12, 1987, at age 70 years. Eddie was born Feb. 3, 1917, at rfolmfield, Man., the eldest son of Richard and Ruth Stacey who later resided in Crystal City and Clearwater areas where they raised their family of five. Eddie left home in 1932 at age 15 to make his living at farm work and in 1939 he and Evelyn Pritchard were married. Their early married life was spent at his Uncle Roy Moffat’s farm , south of Holrnfield where their daughter'Donna was born. In 1941,. they left farm life and settled in Cartwright where Eddie was employed by Cartwright Creamery . Co. until he enlisted in the RCAF.He seryed oversfeas and returned after the war to join his wife and daughter in Killarrtey where he worked for 10 years in the construction business before moving to- Brandon. Eddie retired in-1980, having worked for North American Lumber Co. for 21 years, and his retirment gave him tipie to enjoy the company of his'many good friends. He deriyed 'so much pleasure from curling/ golfing and working with the members of the clubs to which he belonged. He took an active part in the formation of the Centennial Social Club of which he was elected the first President, and was a member of #247 Brarich of the' Royal Canadian Legion. Always a lover of music; he had played the violin since a young boy, and he greatly enjoyed dancing. A thoughtful and compassionate man who had experienced hardships during his own lifetime, he was•always ready and willing to help others in difficulty. Eddie was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was predeceased by his parents, Richard and;Ruth Stacey, and leaves to mourn his passing .his wife Evelyn; daughter Donna, son-in-law Hugh May and five grandchildren: Lisa, Stacy, Tony, Dogulas and Erin. Also surviving are one brother: Gordon and three sisters: BessiePritchard, Doris Towns and Pearl Towns as well as his brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held in Rosewood Memorial Chapel on Sept. 15 with Rev. Terry Shil-/lington officiating. Pallbearers were Bill Gray and Ron Pritchard of Killarney, Ken Agar and Archie Patterson of Winnipeg, Gary Black of Notre Dame de Lourdes and Bill Giesbrecht of Brandon. Members of #247 Royal Canadian Legion formed a Guard of Honor and performed -a .memorable- - gravesideservice. Interment took place in Rosewood Memorial Gardens.- Memorial donations may be made to the Brandon General Hospital Foundation.A loving husband and father, fender and kina, what a beautiful memory you leave behind.
