Git Ail AM W. VELSEYGraham \V. Vclscy, 81, for-mcr Tiojan and well known actor, died yesterday at the Actors Nursing; Home in East I slip. Five years ago lie received his 50 Year Golden Award from Equity. The award marks 50 years as an actor. .Mr. Vclsey and Helen Hayes received the award at the same ceremony.He had played on Broadwaywith Ethel Barrymore in.Em* healed Heaven and “Native Son, in London in Georgo Kelly’s “The Show Off and on TV in the New York Confidential series. His last appearancein this area was in 1958 whenhe played at the Cotonic Summer Theater in ‘'The Pajama Game.Born in Plattsburgh, tfie son of Isaac and Charlotte Vclscy, he came to Troy at the age of 4 with iiis family. His father was in the coal business and later was with Peterson Packer. His mother was a concert vocalist.lie worked in slock companies as an extra and in 1907 was signed by Hie Schuberts for a part in “The White Hen.” For 55 consecutive years ho whs on the legitimate stage, in moving pictures ar.rf on television.Among his last stage appearances was a part in the London production of “The West Side Story.”Two nephews and a niece survive, among them Grant V.Thompson or this city.His funeral will be held from the Overtone Funeral Home in 1slif with interment in Platts-burgh.
