S. degree from Virginia Military Institute in 1935, Mr, Headlev took a position as engineer with the District of Columbia Works Project Administration. DuringWorld War *11 he served in the! South American theatre and on the General Staff at the Pentagon rising to the rank of colonel. When advanced to both captain-and major - in the Corps of Engineers he was cited as the youngest in the IJ. S. Army.In private business, he was an executive with the Trans World Corporation in Washington, a builrfmg-ftrm, and was a pioneer in many fields in his native Northern Neck. The first of his en-lixpetwr-mthis area consisted of a Kaiser-Prazer automobile agency and the Northern Neck Construction Company, both located at Callao. At the time of his death lie was the owner and operator of radio station WNNT, Warsaw, the First Small Loan Company of the Northern Neck in Kilmarnock and the Grayson Headley Construction Co. in Irvington.He was listed in Who’s Who in America”, was a member of the Washington Chapter ofSaints and Sinners, served on the board of directors of theVirginia Association of Broadcasters. was a founder member on the board of sponsors forTides Inn International Golf Course in Irvington, a member of the hoard of directors of the Indian Creek Yacht and Country Club of Kilmarnock and forseveral years was president of the Lancaster County Cancer Association as well as its fund raising chairman. He was active in numerous social organizations in both Virginia and Washington.He is survived by his wife, the former Patricia Parker of Washington. D, C.; his father and mother. Mr. and Mrs. W E Headley of Callao; a sister, Mrs. H, G. di Zerega of Silver Spring. Maryland, and a brother, WarrenHeadley, of-Clinton, Md. ..Services were held at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington with full military honors at 10 a. m. Tuesday morning. Rev. James Ferneyhough, rector of Christ Church Parish, conducted the services. The family suggested that expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of a contribution to the American Cancer Society.
