Action By the Door County Bar.v-Afc—a meeting of the members of the Door county bar held on the 3rd day of. September, 1012, the following memorial and resolutions relative to the death of Gideon W. Allen wereduly passed and ordered to be preceded to the circuit court for consideration, and on the 4th day of September, 1912. the following memorial and resolutions were presented to the couit for consideration.memorial. *Gideon W. Allen was born at London. Ohio, on the 28th day’ of March, 1835, having spent most of his younger days in that state. While he .was yet a young man he struck oat for the great West and landed at what is now Madison, Wisconsin, where ho married Miss Anna Cox in the year 1865, Ho came to Sturgeon Hay in 1867, where he has since resided with exception of the few years that he spent in Missouri, Ho died at this city on the 28th day of February, 1012. lacking just one month lt;f being 78 years of ago.With his death this community boa lo:t a good, honored and respected citizen, and especially to jhe older settlers his death will bo felt most keenly, for it was with them that he labored and toiled. For them he freely gave his services to correctly lay the foundations of commercial and legislative welfare of this county.In hie death the Bar Ioobos a mom her well skilled in the profession of the law. Ho had a most wonderful mind, which could grasp the most intricate and difficult problems which this profession has to deal with. Especially wise andvalnable was ho in connBel and his learning and abilities have on more than one occasion received comment by the brightest and ablest minds of this day and age. And it is with the greatest respect and profound reverence that we panseto do honor to his name;Daring his life time his fellow citizens havehonored himty electing him to serve them inthe state legislature, .and for three terms as district attorney for Door county.He leaves but one child to monrn his loss, hiswife and two sons having preceded him to the Great Beyond.To ub who are gathered here,, his yonnger-brotbera at the bar, the loss and sorrow are very deep. • He was strong in bo many ways; he had Btrength of character as well as of talents and it was a g^eat pleasure to converse with him on the topics of the.day. It seems very lonesome to many of tis now that he Is gone; we shall never again receive his frank and cordial greet* ing, nor lean on him for counsel and assistance; this brings sorrow, and some of us may confess, tears also. ,Resolved, that this memorial and resolution be presented to the circuit court for Door county with the reqneat that it bo spread opon the minutes of the court and a certified' copy of the same be transmitted to his daughter.
