Mecky Ledig. She was the wife of Gordon T. Malan,who died in October 1980.She was a graduate of the Friends’ Central School in Philadelphia and lived in Doylestown for 30 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Doylestown.She was a volunteer with the American Red Cross, starting her career with it in 1951. In the Doylestown district, she served as staff aid chairman, fund-raising chairman and district chairman. In 1955, she began serving as chairman for several committees for the Bucks County branch ofthe Red Cross, including staff aidchairman, volunteer services chairman, executive vice chairman and branch chairman.At the close of her term as branch chairman in 1988, she received a certificate of appreciation from the American National Red Cross for her service, with citation that noted “her dedication to the ideals of Red Cross and her selfless devotion of her sympathy, her time and her talents to every phase of its work/' She remained active for a total of 20 yean and continued her interest in the Red Cross even after her retirement.She is survived by one sister, Alma K.
