PARKERROMNEY, W.Va. — Ruth Harmison Parker, 88, of Rom-ney, died at her residence on Monday, Oct. 3,2005.Born Sept. 17,1917, she was the daughter of Luther Chilton and Katherine “Kate” (Millar) Harmison.In addition to her parents, her husband. John Henry Parker Jr., preceded her in death on March 17, 2000, to whom she was married 51years.Mrs. Parker was a graduate of Romney High School, Class of 1935. She was a World War II, U.S. Army veteran and WAC. A graduate of Cather-man's Business School, Cumberland, she began her career as a secretary at the Bank of Romney. She also worked for Soil Conservation, the Paul C. Williams Stone Quarry and Community Action, Moore-field. Ruth was a member of the DAR, West Virginia Huguenots and the DuboisFamilv Association. A local %/historian, she was a member of the Hampshire County Historical Society and Mineral County Historical Foundation.
