Ladythe JFW, a grassroots organisation for women which placed emphasis on handicraft and on educational projects.She became president of the JFW in 1977, having previously served as vice-president and for several terms as chairman.Lady Allan devoted a great deal of her time and interest to social welfare work: She served on several other welfare bodies, and sat for several years on the Board of Management and Council for the Mico Teachers College,The headquarters of the JFW on Arnold Road in Kingston was named in her honour, as it was through her instrumentali-i ty that the federation obtained its their own building.The chairman of the JFW, Mrs. Dotsie Gordon, said that the federation is grieving at Lady Allan’s passing. Mrs Gordon said Lady Allan was a loyal and devoted president whose name over the years had become synonymous with the JFW.
