Quinn, one of Decorah’s well known pioneer residents passed away this morning at his home in this city, after an illness of aboutcorah shortly after where he remained for a short time and returned to Chicago. He was married there to Miss Mary Kennedy. Nine children were born to the union, fourdistance in time for the funeral.Mr. Quinn was one of Decorah’sa pleasure to know. He lived aclean and honorable life here formany years, and his death will bringcia year’s duration, the last six Jimonths being confined to his bed.The deceased was born in Kings j5 county, Ireland on .June 0, 1833. He cicame to the United States when a young man, settling first in Illinois J about the year 1853, coming to Dt~ *jaiiPof whom survive, they are: Lawr- **ence, Anna, at home; Peter of Omn- t ha and Mamie (Mrs. Frank Prog- ^ahamer) of Herradurra, Cuba. When ®he came to Decorah to settle hereChe held the position of foreman for a a long time in the Decorah Packing * House, conducted by the late G. F. Frances. Mr. Quinn was a veteran of the civil war, having served four years and two months in the 12th Illinois cavalry, and he made a ntI!nisplendid record as a brave and vali- i;iant soldier. In his passing Decorah loses one of her best citizens, and vflthe sympathy of all is extended to r the bereaved children in their loss.iThe funeral services will be held •tFriday morning from St. Benedict's tCatholic church. Rev. Father Hawe , officiating and interment will be in 1the Catholic cemetery.
