Koerner—August T\ Koerner, aged 69 years, a former citizen of lt;this oounty, died at his home in Litchfield, Minn., Wednesday, L A April 17th, his death being duo hI to heart trouble, The deceased U came to Vernon from Germany ^ - when but fourteen years old. He I spent four years in the army dur- i , ing the Civil War and in the year j[1867, be went to Minnesota, where. he has since resided, being iden-ti fied with the growth and prosperity of Litchfield, He was elected to the state legislature and * afterward to state treasurer, in r wbioh position he served three ) terms earning the reputation of being the most competent and M careful treasurer the state of b Minnesota has ever kno wn and to ; o him was due the credit of saving b over $90,000. of state money that t was tied up in the financial t panic of 1893, which occurred just b previous to his taking the state »b office. His wife, who surviveso him, was formerly Miss Kate Mc-Gannon, a sister of the late P. 0.I MoGannon, * of this city.
