John Fetzer had died during tlie preceding night at Iron Kiver. Mich., where he has been residing for she past twoyears. Though he had been ill for a long time, when he. left here some two or three weeks ugp, it was thought by his friends that his health had greatly improved, and the niiws of his death was wholly unexpected, and received with much regret and sorrow by the community in general.-' v v , :Al r. I860 Mr. Fetzer was married to Miss Anna Fetzer (Fifer) of Manitowoc, and whose parents were from the same towu in Germany where Mr. Fetzer was Dorn. They reared a family* of three children, Henry, the eldest, is cashier 11 the Dabk of Sturgeon Bay, this city, Laura :ind Auba, living at home.lu 1867 he moved with his family to Almapee, Wis.r ami established a machine shoplt;and;foiindfy, and litter oh in the same year located on a farm in Forcsiville,; vemaiuing there until he embarked iir the Hour ami feed business ia-'this city? about live yearsvago. At F|orcstvillc he conducted a general stoic, did a large business in forest products, established arid operated a saw mill. He built a fine flouring mill at Forest-villo and it has been in constant operation since. Two years/or so ago he sold out his business in this city and engaged extensively in the lumbering and saw mill. business at Iron Kiver, Mich., iu company, with GN W. Youngs. Here he also acquired a large interest in a valuable new iron mine, that has iQit commenced producing iron in liberal quantities.With exception of one year he represented the town of Foresty'dle for twenty-seven consecutive years on the county board of supervisors, and was chairman of that body for three years. He was postmaster at Forestville for upwards of ten years. Was elected to the legislature in 1884 and in 1890 was elected to the state senate from this district. In all his many years in public olhco he was ever faithful to the trusts imposed, and never swerved from the straight path of duty, holding the utmost esteem aud confidence of his fellow-men.$ He was a member of Wm. A. Neisou Post, No. 97, G. A. K. of Forestville uud for ten years commander of the post. Was a member of Key Lodge, No. 272 A. F. A. M., of Algoma, and a member of the Sons cf Herman lodge. For two years he served as. grand president of the State Lodge, of the latter L order. . lt;Something over a year ago Mr. Fetzer .became very ill at his Michigan home and came here for medical treatment. For a long time it was feared he could riot recover, but lie tinnlly rallied and recovered sufficiently to return to his • busiuess at Iron liiver. Two or three months ago he again came here for medical treatment-, and only a short , time ago returned, apparently much Improved in healtjh..The remains will be brogghi to Forestville today, Friday, and the funeral will be held there to-morrow. Large numbers of old friends and acquaintances from all the surrounding towns and counties will be present at the last sad rights over the remains of their beloved comrade and friend. The community extends si nee rest sympathy. to.’ tlu* bereaved widow and family. A good man, and a good citizen has gone to his eternal rest.
