About 50 gathered from different localities in Northumberland and Durham. The Hydro put on a demonstration at Sylvan Glen on how to put water on a live hydro wire to put out fire. They returned to Canton and had lunch.Miss Diana Beatty won the Novice Plaque in judging competitions at the 4H and Junior Farmers’ Judging Day held at Orono recently. This is the C.N.E. trophy. Mr. Jim Walker obtained second place in the older division.Mr. and Mrs. C. Wilson and boys, Mr. and Mrs. M. Walker and David spent Sunday at Mrs. M. Beatty’s cottage at Haliburton.Another Speedway Race was held on Sunday. Mr. A. Lang-staff had his leg broken when a wheel flew off a racing car and rolled down into the pit.OBITUARYMRS. J. M. MOFFATTThe death of Mrs. J. M. Moffatt, Enterprise, occurred at Memorial Hospital, Bowman ville, on Thursday, July 25, 1968. Mrs. Moffatt, who was in her 89th year, had been ill for several years.Daughter of the late William Allen and Mary Wright, the former Edith Alberta Allen was born at Enterprise and attended school in Clarke Township. On January 5, 1904, she married Mr. John M. Moffatt who predeceased her 9 years ago.Mrs. Moffatt was a member of Orono United Church. A housewife, her chief interests centred around her home and family, and she took an active part in church organizations as long as her health permitted.Surviving are two sons and one daughter, Allen E. Moffatt and Gordon M. Moffatt, both of Bowmanville, and Mrs. O. Reynolds (Doris), R.R. 2, Orono.The funeral service was held from the Morris Funeral Chapel, Bowmanville, on Saturday, July 27th, and wasconducted hv Rev. R. Doneof Orono United Church. Interment was in Orono Cemetery.Among the numerous lovely floral tributes, evidence of the esteem in which the deceased was held, were those fromPalestine Chapter, Jerusa£|UDurJKSnMasonic Lodge, and Chapter O.E.S.Pallbearers were six grandsons, Messrs.
