Obituary.Jacob Z. Nowlin' was born in this county March 10, 1S4G. The greater portion of his lite was spent near the place of 11is birth and childhood. He died on Sabbath morning, July 3d, 18S1, aged 35 years, 3 months and 17 days, die was married to Anna E Boatman, January 13, 1875. His wife and two children are left in deep bereavement by his death. The subject of this sketch availed himself of the educational advantages offered by the public schools;but these were not sufficient to satisfy his thirst for knowledge. - He studied with much eagerness and with marked success at the National Normal School of Ludlow, Ohio, lie devoted himself to teaching and achieved much success in this work. The remainder of his litewas spent amid the labors and duties of tlie farm. The deceased bad never identified himself with any branch of ihe Christian churchy but was a firm believer in the teachings of Christianityand gave his sympathy and support to charitable, and Christian institutions.lie was an earnest and warm friend to justice and truth. He was a man ol strong convictions, and the integrity of his life shone clear and bright in obedience to convictions of right and duty. His influence was for right. He not only entertained theories concerning duty, but also gave a beautiful andpractical expression of honesty and integrity in his daily living. G. C.
