C. Rogers, associate editor of The Abbeville Herald and formerly connected with newspapers of Georgia and California, died of pneumonia at his Abbeville home at 8 o’clock last night. He had been abed only since Friday and the seriousness of his ill* ness was not recognized until yester-duy. He was 54 years of age at the time of his death.Mr. Rogers had been connected withthe Abbeville Herald for about two years. He had a wide experience in the newspaper field and was known throughout Georgia and Alabama. He also served with California publications for a period before becoming associated with the Abbeville paper, lie made an enviable record in his work.About a week prior to his demise, Mr. Rogers had negotiated for thepurchase of the Headland Wire gras 3 Farmer and under the terms of the sale proposal he was to have assumed editorship of this publication this week, it is said.Mr. Rogers is survived by one daughter, Miss Merle Rogers; four sisters: Mrs. J. H. Sparks of Headland, Mrs. Charles Graham of Unadil-la, Ca., Mrs. Herbert Bibb of Los An-geles, and Mrs. Will llooten of Laurel Mill. Fla.; two nieces, Mrs . Jim Ac/ee, Jr., of Dothan and Mrs. Fred Yarbrough of Dothan.
