After graduation from Oberlin college he, went to Fergus Falls to begin law practice, then moved to Duluth where he was a member lt;n the firm of Washburn, Lewis andMitchell. He was a district Judge in Duluth from IMo to 1900. when hednwas elected to the *tate supreme court, lie aat on the high tribunal until 1922, then moved to Lo.s Angeles to resume law practice.
