Mrs. Shipman will be brought to Lawrence for biirial in Oak Hill cemetery near her little daughter, Sally, who; died five years ago last Thanksgiv- • ing-Mrs. Shipman was born in‘Salma; and came, to Lawrence with her' parents when ' little more ‘ than a babe in arms. Here she lived for many years and secured-most of her grade school, education. Afterwards she went tp Chicago with her mother, now Mrsl Cjias. H. Hoinvilte, where her educationw’ascompleted.. .....- Some years ago when her father,, J. L. Brady, owned the Salina Daily? Union, she moved back to the home-of her birth and for several years was connected with the paper. She. was the. mother of two daughters, Mary' Jule, who survives her, and Sally, who died five years ago while visiting her grandfather, in Idaho.Mrs. Shipman-quite early showed musical ability and ..for several years was connected in a teaching capacity with a school, of fine arts in Chicago. It' was dming this time that she published several compositions of her own. For anumber of years she was also well known as a writer for radio publications,' Thru the excellence of her. work in various lines Mrs.. Vera Brady Shipman had become one of the best known women of Chicago. She resigned, a position as publicity manager and head of the budget department for the Davis Stores in Chicago, to take a similar-position with another store.. Much of her time was spent at the home of her mother, but she and her daughter also' had apartments of theirP£-tocalii31own.The funeral will be held in Lawrence at the First _ Baptist church and the services will be conducted, bv Rev. Chas. W. Thomas. The hour and date .of the funeral will be announced tomorrow,, but it will probably be next Monday. While in Lawrence she attended the First Methodist church, blit united -with the Presbyterian church -while a student in Chicago. She has been away from Lawrence for many years, but still retained many friendships here.Her father,- J. L. Brady,, is the publisher of the Idaho Republican at Blackfoot, Idaho. He was connected with the Journal-World for many years, disposing -of his interests in 1914.
