Utterly blind from earliest childhood, she yet rose by her own ellorts to a position of prominence at the Chicago bar. and an acknowledged place among the best writers of epic verse in AmericaShe was born in Iowa 011 a farm edged by the Mississippi. Her professional career has been brilliantly successful, and sonic of the best-read men in the profession admit that they never failed to *eck her advice when knotty points of law presented themselves, she was slight and gentle and low of voice, but in ca-cs of interest her eloquence became remarkable.
