She had been hospitalized for a week in Baraboo, and during that time was lovingly cared for by her family.She was born in Kiel, on Jan. 6. 1919. the youngest of four children of Adolph and Hertha (Krieger) Stoelting. She attended Kiel Public Schools and in high school was a cheerleader and involved in music and drama. She was active in Girl Scouts and was the first girl in Kiel to receive the Golden Eaglet Award. She graduated as Salutatorian of the Class of 1936 and went on to the University of Wisconsin in Madison. where she majored in Physical Education, graduating with Honors in 1940.Her first job was in Jefferson. Wis.. where, for two years, she taught K -12 physicial educatrion. She then moved to Two Rivers, where she not only taught physical education, but enjoyed directing the “Polliwogs” synchronized swimming club. While at Jefferson, she met the love of her life, Olaf Lee of Deerfield, who was teaching in the High School. After a three year courtship, she and Olaf were married on June 10. 1945 in Kiel. Olaf served with the Merchant Marines until World War II ended and then they moved to Madison While in Madison, she received Christian instruction from the Rev. Erling Ylvisaker at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, which began a lifetime love of the ELS Synod and Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato. Minnesota. In 1947. Marie and Olaf moved back to Kiel, where she would live for the next 50 years. Olaf joined Stoelting Bros. Company and Marie became a housewife and mother to a family of five girls. Sara. Kathryn. Barbara. Carin and Christine. Many of her summers were spent at the family cottage at Lake Ripley in Cambridge, where she enjoyed swimming and watching the sunrise from the porch.Marie was active in her community and involved in her church. She was on the Indian Hill and Library Boards, and for many years was General Leader of the Kiel Riverside 4-HCIub She was a member of the Historical Society and Study Club and a charter member of the Homecraft Homemakers Club. She loved her church. Trinity Lutheran, in Kiel and was a Sunday School teacher and member of the Choir and Ladies Aid. Her contributions always showed dedication and kindness in remembering others, but many will remember most her warmth, fun-loving attitude, and young-at-heart spirit. In 2001. Marie moved to Baraboo. where she was a member of St John's Lutheran Church.She experienced many blessings during her life, none greater than her Cnristian faith. She knew her earthly journey was in her Savior's Hand and this was the anchor of her days, which she lived out trusting His plan for her and assured of His Promises and Heaven She was preceded in death by her husband. “Lars Olaf Lee in 1975; both her parents; her brother. Carl Stoelting. and her sister, Elfriede (Stoelting) Kuether.She is survived by her brother. Frederick Stoelting of Kiel; and her five daughters and their families: Sara (Sam) Reid of Issaquah. Wash., and children. Patrick. Michael, and Lisa Reid and Anne (Jonathan) Taylor; Kathryn (Ronald) Voss of Baraboo. and children, Gretchen (Steven) Brown. Paul (Meagan) Voss, and Ellen (Chad) Stevenson; Barbara Swanson of Duluth, Minn., and children. Hannah, Peter and Isak Swanson; Carin Lee (Bill Rogers) of South Berwick. Maine, and children, Miles and Amelia Lee-Rogers and Christine (Dudley) Campfield of Grand Rapids. Mich , and daughter. Jennifer Campfield She also had seven great-grandchildren.Ian.
