He did not do this on of any unusual charity but because he liked to look alter the woman. bet tuse she was Jim Daniels wife's sister.The feud itself started in this manner: John Daniels was in the peni-tentiary at Moundsville and was serving a second term. Mose Christian and his brother, Hub. decided that If they went ta old man Daniels uulshowed him how they could get John out of jail heitvould give them the $H00 or $400 which they said would be necessary. They went to the old man with the story, but plain commonsfnse showed the old man that something was wrong, and he wrote to John and asked him if he could be gotten cut by the Christian boys. John wrote back to his father tha; he tould not be gotten cut and advised his father to hold fast to his money. The old man then cursed the Christi.*; about the matter and for the time it wa* forgotten.Liter on. however, Jim Daniels stole a gun from Mose Christian and t\!ien charged with having taken the gun he deniei it. but the Christians were sure that he bad their Widehes-ti r and war to a certain extent was dee] red. Two weeks rgo Jim Danieh was in the home at Devon, Kv., when the Christian boys and others ea ie up from War Eagle determined to get I he g'lii. One of them, it is said, told that he would either get the gun or he would get Jim Daniels. At bast this is the storv told bv Jim Daniels' father. They approached the house, which is small, painted yellow .and has a little porch in front of it and is situated on the Kentucky side of th» Tag River, just west of the telegraph station. They came ui to the hous*j and the old -fin went to the door. He asked what was wanted and they said that they wanted Jim. This argument did not suit the men outside and finally Jim went out.
