BAND GAVE DELIGHT-FUL SACRED CONCERTIN PARK YESTERDAY* The closing concert given, yestar- ' day afternoon, by the Fairfield Icwa Band, under the direction of Fred Jewell, was heard by a large and appreciative audience. The program consisted of sacred and patriotic music and was greatly enjoyed. Mrs. j Ralph Ward sang two popular and patriotic songs and was greeted by hearty applause and as her closing number she sang “Over There” by r jquest.j During the interemission, 0. F. Fryer, Chairmi 11 of the Liberty Loan Committee, and Dr. R, Ames Montgomery gave interesting talks in the i the interest of the Liberty Loan!The auxiliary which supports the j band, used the day as tag day to give those who are not regular subscribers to the auxiliary a chance to contribute something as an appreciation of the work of the band through-j out the summer. Nearly $100 was realized from the sale of tags.l’he community singing which was advertised to be held in connectionII mWith the concert was not given.riirough a misunderstanding thej singing was advertised to take place as it*had been on the Thursday nightthe concert was to have been given,but it was learned late Saturdayevening that it would not he lneld.l!
