Harry Odom, Captured ByDEOn Corregidor, Returns HomeiFUAfter approximately three and a half years in a Japanese prison camp in Japan, Harry Odom, radio first class, U. s. navy, arrived at his home at Botssevain, Va., on a ninety-day leave, aftei which he will receive an honorable discharge from the servicf.Odom la among the first Japanese prisoners from this area to return home following liberation, jOdom, who was serving with the regular navy at the time of IPearl Harbor, was assigned to a-----natnicxJOHN 1John T. uefleld. \email naval craft in the Philippine area when the Japs struck December 7, 1041. When Corregidor fell, he was captured and placed in the Cabtantuwan prison in the Philippines, where he re-1 mained for six months.Odom was later transferred by •hip to Japan, where he was interned first in the Tonagua prison camp, later being moved to the Umeda camp. He was being held in the Tsurugu camp in th Osraka area when the surrender was signed on September 2.Rather reluctant to discuss life In a Japanese prison camp. During his Interment.
