Weems, State Treasurer, was appointed today,*State Vice Chairman of the Roosevelt Business Professional League by John F. Kroutil, National Vice President, in charge of South Western activities. Mi;. Kroutil is also State Chairman for Oklahoma.Weems will have charge of the League's Speakers' Bureau. His appointment as State Vice Chairman of the League, was suggested by Scott• sFerris, National Committeeman.Mr. Weems is a resident. of Salli-saw, Oklahoma. „He has been active in Oklahoma politics since 1906. From j .1906 until 1916 he was assistant secretary in the Commissioners Land of-, flee. When the United States entered the war, he enlisted and served, withi the 40th Engineera with .distinction.1 He was chairman, of the SPldlere. rfe-r lief committee from 1923 to 1925, and State Game and Fish Warden from1927 to 1928. ,. •*The Democratic party has continu-j ally honored him with responsible appointments and he has risen Co his i present high office in the State through his efficiency. He was secretary of the State League of Young i Democrats from 1911 to 1912; Chairman of the Sequoyah County Central Committee from 1916 to 1917; Secre-I tarv to the State Central Committee | during the same period, and Secretary to the Democrat State Convention held ih Oklahoma City, 1926.During 1928 he was chairman of theIj Speakers’ Bureau for the State and -National campaigns- He has been a delegate to several state and oounty conventions.Mr. Weems was Post Commander of Legion Post, Sallisaw, 1921 and a member of the State Executive Committee of the American League 1919 and 1920. He is one of the organiz-I ers of the Legion in this State. He is a member of Carnie Welch Post, No. 27. Mr. Weems has a wife and two ! sons.
