SWINTON (Tbhjitt).—There were only poor congregations at this churcl last Sabbath when the Sunday-school anniversary sermons were celebrated. Rev H. W. James, of Radcliffe, preached morning and evening, and in the afternoon Mr. W. T. Postlethwait®, O.O., gave an address to the young people on “ The Race in Life.” The ohoir, under the conduotorship of Mr. J. Nelson, rendered the anthems, “While the Earth Remaineth,” “I Will Magnify Thee,” and “ There is a River.” The solos, c., were sung by Misses Emily Wallwork and S. E. Bleakley. Miss Emily Wallwork also rendered the solo, “Happy Land.” Mr* James H. Wallwork was organist, and the offertories amounted to £13 10s. 7d.
