Mencer, of the United Slates Army Air Forces.The heart and citation reached the mother or the deceased Army Air Force man about two weeks ago and she is enjoying real pride in the gift.Staff Seigeant Mencer. 26, was first teported missing in fighting in the European theatre. MENCER*leceh'ed n message saying he had been killed on May 21, 1943, white fighting gallantly in the service of his country.He was a radio operator with a bomber force and had been transferred from a ground radio crew to the air force on May 10.He wa« ;\ graduate of Charleroi High School, class of 1034, joining the armed forces on December d, 1941, the day after Pearl Hatbor. He received his training at Scott Field. Fin., and went to Europe Sept. 1. 1942 and on to North Africa Inst January,The citation of honor was signed by H. H. Arnold, General, U. S. Army, Commanding General Army Air Force.Mrs. Mcnccr has another son in the service. Private Robert Mencer, 21, now in Shreveport, Louisiana.
