C. J. Sweeney Jr.. J. F. Brown, and J. W. Lockhart have been named as incorporators.Tliis organization is an educational one which will advocate the breeding of thoroughbred dogs chiefly through the annual dog shows and the welfare of dogs.On Oct. 0 and 7. the first of these dog shows will be held at the GBurden of Toklo. This will be one of the eight shows to be held in the 1 Southwest during a period of about three weeks. Entries from all parts of the United States and Canada have been received by the officials here.E. W. Leach of Minneapolis and his staff will arrive Saturday and open offices at 402 22d. He holds a license as an American Kennel Club superintendent of dog shows.over the week-end the silver trophies will be on display in McBride’s windows, cash prises will amount to over $200 and a number of ribbons will be awarded.About 300 famous dogs from all parts of the country will be on display during the two days on their benches, and the different breeds will be judged at various hours during the show.Rathmullan Kennels of Santa Fe N. M., will bring a string of Irish wolf hounds and Great Afgan hounds. This is the only kennel outside of New York which raises these breeds. An Irish wolf hound stands about four feet high when standing on all four legs and weighs about 300 pounds. They are exchanged as gifts by the nobility of Europe and many legends and stories have-Wen founded on individual dogs of this breed.A string 6t over 30 dogs are expected from Chicago. S. S. Van Dyne, tha noted mystery storiy writer, will probably enter some of his famous scotties. Forrest F. Hall of Dallas i# also expected with a string of wire-hartred terriers. ' .Ttys series of dog shows which opens in Oklahoma City ttys weekend, will also Include • shows in Houston opening Oct. 9, a show at the Dallas Fair and other points in the Southwest. Owners of “fine dogs receive points for prize winning dogs in each event, and the accumulated credits establish the championship of the animal.A small charge will be made forthose visiting the dog shows, tickets to which are now being sold. This is the first dog show of this kind to be held here, and the sponsors are pleased with the entries tnat have already been made.
