Holbrook, of Union township, who is in France with the American Expeditionary Forces was struck on the head by a piece of shell on August 10, according to a letter which was received today by George H. Meiks of ‘'his city. Holbrook's name was reported In the war department casualty list several days ago.He stateB in the letter that a piece of a nine inch shell penetrated his J steel helmet and bored through his !enr. He is now in a hospital where he [expects to remain for some time. He says that he is improving and is anxious to get back to the fighting.Holbrook's regiment was fighting with the Br(*iish on the Picardy front near Montdidier He says that he was working a machine gun. when a slvd! exploded about twenty feet away. The letter was written August 15.
