NEWS OF OUR MEN«w WOMEN IN UNIFORMWith the 1st U. S. Infantry Division in Germany—Pfc. Walter M. Carwithen, Jr., of Doylestown, Pa., was recently promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant. S/Sgt. Carwithen whose home is at 100 E. Oakland ave., joined the 1st Division last November when it was battling near Aachen. During the war he served in hazardous combat intelligence work. He has been a member of Hq. Co., 3d Bn., 16th Regiment since entering the Division.Tinieum. is enroute home with the 70th “Trailblazer” Division from the European Theater of Opera-tions. Cpl. Schaefer, whose wife, Mrs. Helen Schaefer, resides at Tinieum, Bucks County, Pa., holds the ETO ribbon and the Normandy, Northern France and Germany Campaign Battle Stars.Sgt. William Sickel, Indiantown Gap, spent the weekend with his mother, Mrs. Meta Sickel, Wy-i combe.Pfc. Ernest R. Stoudt, R. D„ Quakertown; Pfc. John H. Martin-dell, Croydon T/5 Raymond F. Wodoek, Jr., Doylestown; and T/4 Robert H. Knowles, Quakertown; Pfc. Cleatus M. Partozes, R. D. Langhorne, and Pfc. Peter Deluca, Bristol, recently arrived at the Indiantown Gap Military Reservation for redeployment. Prior to reassignment they will be given furloughs.S/Sgt. Alfred F. Dessino, Hat-boro; T/5 Edward W. Dawes, Croydon, and Cpl. Daniel T. Zinelli, Bristol were recently discharged from the Service through the Indiantown Gap Military Reservation.With the 70th Infantry Division, Germany— Cpl. John Schaefer,S/Sgt. Samuel F. Slack has received an honorable discharge from the Army, and has returned to his home in Hatboro.Pfc. Harry W. Wilcke, 3rd, Hatboro, who had been with the 343rd Infantry, has been transferred to the Pacific area.
