CONFEDERATEREUNION HELD\The Confederate Reunion here Sat-/wday September 11, proved a very enjoyable affair for both the old veterans and their wives. The program which was rendered that morning at the residence of Dr. and Mrs. J. E. Andrews was both (interesting and suitable to the occasion and the Daughters of the Confederacy ‘served an exceptionally fine luncli. Many out-of town veterans were in attendance.A large and enthusiastic audience listened to an able and patriotic address to the Ex-Confederate3 by Sen. John N. Tillman at the Court House in the afternoon. Among other things Senator Tillman said that the amount of the cotton tax, illegally collected from the South during and immediately after the war between the states by a partisan government, which now amounts, with the accumulated interest, to $100,000,000, ought to be returned to the ex-Con- l federate soldiers and their widows as the best representatives of the Old South from whom it was taken, as it would be difficult to repay it in. £
