Norman Penney whowas killed in action on Leyte Nov. 3, 1944 were held today at 3 p. m.in the Jack Schmitz and Sons Funeral Chapel.Pallbearers were former Denton High School football teammates. ! Rev. Claude Holcomb of the Welch Street Church of Christ officiated. ie: The American Legion was in charge of the military burial serv-d ices. Interment was in the Oak-• wood Cemetery.Sgt. Penney served with the in-, fantry in the initial invasion of d Leyte and was one of the first n American soldiers to set foot onsoil of the Philippine Islands in l* attack.He was reared in the Denton y schools and was a graduate of Den- j 5t ton High School svere he partlci-f- pated in football and track.
