Changing Allegiance, Mrs. Oakes Takes Post in WAVEsMrs. Frieda Hartman Oakes, 415 N. Murray st., will change allegiances when she starts teaching code to women’s naval reserve members coming to the University of Wisconsin Oct. 9.For the last two years she has been chief clerk in the university military science department. Her new post will take her from the army to the navy.Mrs. Oakes will be civil service instructor for the WAVEs. She learned code from the signal corps staff of the Reserve Officers Training corps.
