morning:.A Syrian of 18, Joseph Maron of 13 Corning st, who has been in uniform at the Hotel Touraine, a bellhop, came to the army recruiting station this morning, desirous of enlisting, so he could fight the Sultan of Turkey, who, he claimed, three years ago did much injury to his family. After the parents were dead in the town of Troune, on the side of Mt Lay-bain, the boy said he and his three sisters lied to America. The sisters are now married in this country. For two reasons the recruiters held off. They want to verify the boy's story and to determine exactly what the attitude of Syria to Turkey was three years ago. Also they would feel more sure of their ground if they could find evidence of the boy’s having taken out his first citizenship papers.
