Shuck of Indiana avenue, Sullivan, entertained at a family dinner in their home for the following guests: Mr and Mrs. J. C. Phillips, Paxton, 111.; Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Craws, Palestine, 111.; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Libby and daughters, Janet and Ruth Ann of Saybrook, 111.; Mr. and Mrs, William Phillips and daughter, Mary Ann, and Mike Eaton; Mrs. Robert Springer, Mrs. Myrtle Mellen and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Phillips, all of Sullivan.Mrs. Verne Buckley, who suffered a cerebral hemorrhage in Corona, Calif., after touring the western states with her husband, is reported improving satisfactorily. The attack occurred while they were visiting in the home of their son, Paul Buckley, and iamily.The Xi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi held the first meeting of the new club year at Carrico’s restaurant. Following the dinner, a business session was conducted,Mr. and Mrs. Bob Howard, of Pendleton, Ind., former residents of Sullivan, are the parents of a girl, Phyllis Kay, born at Mary Sherman Hospital. They are staying at the home of the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Howard, of North Broad street.Mr. and Mrs. Herman N. Scott, of Sullivan, R. R. 4, returned from a western trip where they visited several noted points of interest.Providence Methodist Church, located seven miles west of Sullivan, held its homecoming and basket dinner Sunday, Sept. 9. with Rev. .Alvin Collins as the morning speaker and Rev. Floyd Huey in theafternoon. Music was furnished bv%the Ml. Calvary Singers.Recent births at Mary Sherman Hospital include the following; To Mr. and Mrs. Charles Burger, Coalmont, twin boys, and to Mr. and Mrs. John Thomson, Hymera, a boy, Paul Richard.Mrs. P. L. Reid has receivedword of the birth of a great-grandson, Daniel Reid Goodfellow at Wenatchee, Wash. Mr. and Mrs, James Goodfellow, the parents, have two other children, Stephen and Cindy. Mrs. Goodfellow is the former Miss Nancy Brown.Margaret Faught, daughter ofMr. and Mrs. Cecil Faught, left for Chicago to enter the Michael Reese Hospital School of Nursing. She was accompanied by her parents and Mr. and Mrs. Sonner Faught.Mrs. Will C. Kell, of Los Angelas.Calif., is visiting her sister, Mrs. J. R. Crowder, Sr., and other Sullivan relatives.Mrs. M. Steele, of Cincinnati, is the guest of her mother, Mrs. J. H.
