Two Soldiers Are Being Held Here On Rape ChargeTwo soldiers were arrested at Ida Grove Sunday at the request of Sheriff Hubert Kapseh. Their arrest followed shortly after they allegedly beat and raped a girl from a nearby town. .The young woman told county officials that she met one of the soldiers at a dance at Storm Lake and he asked to accompany her home. When they were about to leave Storm Lake the soldier’s friend got in the car and accompanied-them. When the trio were within about 80 rods of the girls' home they allegedly assaulted her. •In the rough treatment, in which the girl said the soldiers struck her and beat her badly, she received numerous cuts and bruises.She freed herself by jumping from the car while it was moving, and then made her way to her home. She was immediately taken to a physician and four stitches wete required to close the wound on her face.Following the assault the men, Wilbur P. Zoch, 21, of Arthur, la. and Gerald Goodwin, 20, of Omaha, went to Ida Grove where they were arrested for local authorities by the Ida county sheriff. Sheriff Hubert Kapseh and Deputy E. It. Stahley went after them Sunday and they are being held in the county jail here.They are being held pending word from, army officials. Charges of rape have been filed against them by County Attorney’s Information.Since all members of the armed forces uc subject to descipline under the articles of wat and sjnce the country Is strfl technlciffy* in astate of war the soldiers held to answer these charges may be tried by general Court Martial. The commanding general of the 7th Service Command has been furnished with a copy of the charges and evidence filed against the soldiers.
