Cigars, cigarettes, candy, etc., | * ! were also served the boys at tlie City ■ : ;Hail. } m I :! In the evening the crowd seemed to become - even larger. The space on * Baltimore street roped off far duncing,was so croAvded oil evening that ll'Avas Impossible' to dance even though thera was plenty of tempting jiizz music at each block.• Orchestra On Truck, Frederick's and Croimvell's orchestra of, seven pieces with a piano ,from Frederick's was mounted on a large truck and contrib-MUed largely to the entertainment of ! the hundreds of people gathered about j by their splendid playing. “Take Mo J3ack to the Land of Jazz” was one iiumber which was especially good and merited much applause. The Cumberland Municipal Band and the South End Baud placed in the roped-off section. played inspiring music. ^ During the evening ilie piano in tlio doorway of the Shccter Music Company, 21-23 Baltimore street, was kept busy. The crowd at this paint did not break up until after’1 o'clock. * /• Walter Smith and Harry/Coufors al-j traded at lout ion in the role of female iimpersonators. The former ami’ sev-j a.ral other young men of this city Hv.on-; od things up by singing some of the latest songs in a manner that would ; have been a credit to professionals.} * Colored Boys In Line.The colored soldiers formecV the vanguard of the parade. Looking neat and trim, they^vere a credit to themselves and were given hearty applause all along the line of march- After the parade they were given a chicken din-ner iu the basement of Metropolitan A*~M. Id. Church, served by a committee beaded by Mrs. Mary E. Rhodes.At night Frederick street was raped ioff from Decatur to Linden and the soldiers and their friends danced in the music furnished .by Prof. Oom-Avcll’s and Prof. Biirnvdeu's orchestras and the South.End Band until the wee hours of (be -morning.The following soldiers were the ex-ljservice men who were honored:| Charles Preston.
