Clay Crawford—FurtherProof of His Identity with the ConvictChawfoud*—The packages of Executive papers for 1855 were found yesterday. They were in the room in the Capitol loft, where they belonged, but had been misplaced from their shelf, probably by some searcher after information. At any rate, there is no reason to believe that any of the officers at present in charge were responsible for the misplacement, The petition filed in the case of 41 L\ Crawford ” was written from Cambridge, Md., by a woman who claimed to be bis wife, and who stated that she and Crawford had been on a visit to his home in East Tennessee: that they were returning north ria the Virginia and Tennessee railroad; that at Wythevillc Crawford met a young man named R. C. Clifford, whom lie had previously known; that the robbery (of counterfeit money) was committedbv Clifford, and that Clifford concealed some of the counterfeit money in Crawford’s drawing-case; that Crawford and Clifford had been convicted, and that the writer had visited the two in the penitentiary, and Clifford had made a statement exonerating Crawford: and therefore the alleged wife prayed that Crawford might be restored to liberty. The Governor denied the petition. *The petition goes to show that C. Crawford was a native of East Tennessee (us-R,C. Crawford is), and that the counterfeit money was conceded in bn 4 Hint wing-case/’seeming to confirm the theory that Crawford was, as stated, at that time practicing portrait-painting. -It will be observed that nowhere in therecords ilt; the convict known as anythingbut “C. Crawford”; his companion in crime, however, was called Jl. C. Clifford— “II. CV’ were the right initials of Crawford. _ . . ,vWhile the idea that Usman Pasha is h. Clav Crawford has been pretty effectually exploded, there yet remains reason to believe that Colonel It. Clay Crawford, late of the United states army, and Major-General K. Clay Crawford, late of the Mexican army, are identical with **C. Crawford.”The Old First Virginia.—This Association had their regular monthly meeting on. , *___^ ^ ,-v » L At iiin r/J At in.kindly-int father lntlt;Richard young thwas foundrah Freenand nine i Mr. states th Justice V the two contrary 1 lice's deci good rea# will notpunishmci larceny ca: to deal wilcharges ofDe moresFashions, and How i Meyer, mFolUicai which as sc Monday, nresolved li vention fo the work, r ties, of tin which non Matoaca. ai Chester, fc great mam that Mr, Lrecently heis general supcrinten been urgec *21st instan7 he Wat has been lt;above the iand Marslwaatogatecommence* force of e Lipscomb, before to-d till after rwill be turanrl thp Till
