Oscar Ruiz Now Serves in JapanWith the Eighth Army in Japan(Delayed) — Private First ClassOscar G. Ruiz, 19 years old ofKingsville, Texas, is a parachutistserving with the 11th AirborneDivision. His unit, the 1st. Bn.,187th Glider Infantry Reg’t., isstationed in Hakodate, Japan, and his occupational duty Is working for the battaloin motor pool.Pfc. Ruiz was inducted into the service at Fort Sam Houston, Texas in June, 1945. After receiving his infantry basic training at Camp Hood, Texas, he qualified as a parachutist at Fort Benning, Ga., in December, 1945. In April, 1946 he joined the 11th Airborne Division at Hakodate, Japan.Prior to his induction into the Army, Oscar was employed by the Missouri Pacific Railroad, and at the present time is undecided as to his post war plans.Having served in the Pacific Theater, Ruiz has to his credit the following awards; the Japanese Occupation ribbon, the American Theater ribbon, and the Good Conduct and Victory medals, in addition to his parachute wings.
