Belle Plaine Couple IA Obterve AnnivertaryllSpecial to The Q»*ette. ,- * BELLE PLAINE — In observance of their golden wedding anniversary, Mr. and Mrs. William McElroy entertained relatives and friends Tuesday. A brief program included vocal'numbcrs by Mrs.Thelma Shadle and Harold Miller, jr., and during the afternoon a baptismal ceremony was held for two grandchildren, Max Alex .McElroy and Eleanor McElroy,I .children of. Mr. and Mrs. James McElroy. The Rev. Vinton Lee of the- First Congregational church officiated. Among the guests was Mrs. Roett Sanderson of Belle Plaine; a sister of Mr. McElroy, the only living relative who attended the wedding.Mr. McElroy, 76, a son of Lincoln and Matilda McElroy, was born on a farm north of Blairs-town, Oct. 2, 1859. Mrs. McElroy, who is 71, was, formerly Miss Elisa McClcrcn, daughter of Peter and Mary McCleren. She was born Nov. 12, 1864, at Kill Krccn, Ireland, and when a child she came to America with her mother. She was married‘to Mr. McElroy in Belle , Plaine Sept. 8, 1886. The Rev. Charles H. Bissell of the Congregational church, officiated., Mr. McElroy, who worked for many years for the North Western Railway company, was pensioned several years ago. The couple were the parents of ten children and the seven who are living are: Lincoln McElroy, Mrs. James Mcll-rath and Mrs. C. Adams, twins, of Mason City, Mrs. H. J. Miller and James McElroy of Belle Plaine, Johri McElroy of Boone and Will McElroy of Clinton. They also have twenty grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. •eitcnrT2!dPBtlt;tilibflt;A
