Daniel Green and Pvt. Douglas Green, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Green, all of Algomi, recently completed training as cannoneers under the One Station Unit Training (OSUT) program al the U.S. Army Field Artillery in Ft. Sill, Okla.OSUT is a 13-week period which combines basic combat training with advanced individual training. Students learned the duties of a howitzer or gun section crewman and received instruction in handling ammunition, setting fuses and preparing charges, communications and maintenance.Each received a letter of commendation as honor graduate, and Pvt. Daniel Green also received a letter of commendation for outstanding sentinel and a trophy for high physical training. Out of a possible 300, he scored a 300.The men are all members of Battery “B, Algona. SFC Darrell Green is also the full-time recruiter for the National Guard.
