I LIEUTENANT MILLS.j Greensboro News.j Another sacrificial offering of her | best North Carolina has laid upon the : altar of world freedom. Lieutenant ! Quincy Sharpe Mills, who has given : the final proof of patriotic valor, had [already won high place in the esteem j of those in the broad field of his activ-j ities whose esteem is most worth having. Young in years, he had already become a great reporter and a great writer. He belonged to a family with generations of culture and influence, his inherited talents were brilliant, his character was marked by nobility and beauty and simplicity. Graduating from the University of North Carolina with honors which had already indicated the strong bent I of his talent he immediately put his | qualities to the severest test, taking ■ j employment with the Now York Sun organization, and continuing with the Evening Sun thereafter until he en-j fered the officers* training school at ’ Plattsburg-The honors won by this brave youth i add a new luster to the history of his j native State, his native community i and his alma mater, and his example j furnishes a new inspiration to duty j and sacrifice to those who were privi-j leged to know and to call him friend, | and all the great procession that pre-: ceded and followed him through the i university’s doors.
