MRS. FIKES SINGS WITH WINNING AFB CHOIRMrs.. Charles Fikes, daughter of Mrs. Una Paschal of Glen Rose, and the late J. O. Paschal, is a member of the Protestant Choir at Tyndall AFB, Fla., that recently received top honors in the United State Air Defense Command judging. Recording of one song chosen by the contest board was submitted and one alternate recording is made of the choirs selection from five nunbers chosen by the board.an a c a p e 11 a rendition of “Christ To Thee Be Glory, by Sagitarius was the board’s choice.Twenty-eight choirs from Air Force Bases in the United State were entered with Grand Forks, N.D., choir placing second.Mrs. Fikes, lead soporano and soloist with the first place winning choir was also a member of the choir at Harmon AFB, Nenfoundland, in 1959 when they were runner-up for top honors.Tape recordings of the first and second place winning chapel choirs in the U.S. contest will be sent to Air Force Headquarters to represent the command in the world-wide Air Force Chapel Choir contest to be held soon.
