Continued from page Cit had rained for the past 24 hours and was still raining at intervals; that two hard showers were encountered en route, did not deter the good people of Rockdale from showing their admiration, their respect and their good will toward these boys who are going out to fight for their country.The boys were duly delivered at the courthouse in Cameron, almost, if not quite, on time, and after final goodbyes were said the cars returned at will.Rockdale has “pulled” many “stunts.” all more or less worthy; but the reception and farewell given these nineteen soldier lads will no doubt go down in history as the most worthy of them all. When a people get together and do such acts of kindness as Rockdale people did yesterday morning, in the face of such difficulties and on such short notice, it proves that our citizens are possessed of that element of patriotism and loyalty and community spirit which makes them the best people on earth. All honor to H. C. Meyer and the Red Cross ladies who made the affair a success! All honor to every loyal citizen who participated !
