Pfc. Mack F. Cooper, son of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Cooper, is spending a 30 day furlough with his parents, in Marshall. He has been in Germany for the past year. He wears 4 Battle Stars, has the Bronze Medal and received the following Citation:“MACK F. COOPER, 36043466, Private First Class, 398th Infantry Regiment, for meritorious achievement in action during the period 6 November 1944 to 31 March 1945, in France and Germany. Throughout this period Private Cooper repeatedly displayed courage and application toduty in the discharge of his duties as wiremen. In the attacks of 14 and 20 December, as well as the final assault of 16 March, upon the fortress city of Bitche, France, his efforts were instrumental in maintaining contact between the battalion observation post and our attacking troops, and during the engagement near Guising,France, on January, he performed his assigned duties in an exemplary ] manner despite intense enemy artillery, mortar, tank and rocket fire. Entered military service from Mar-'tinsville. 111. 1
