from Isadore Binstein,KerrvilleWhen World War II ended in Europe, I was in the 155 mm Howitzer battalion of either the 85th Infantry Division or the 34th Infantry Division, I don’t remember which.Rumor was that we were to be shipped out of Italy to Ft. Lewis in Washington State and on to the Pacific Theater of operations if needed. We were having artillery practice on a dry river bed that was at least a mile wide that drained the snows of the Alps. This giant of a man came out of a pretty nice house and came over to our position. It was Primo Camera. A fellow in our outfit that had some boxing experience set up a match the following Sunday in an open field. This GI really tried, but Camera just played with him.
