Parents GetSon's MedalSTUART — The parents of a Patrick County soldier killed in Vietnam were presented their son’s medal for bravery in ceremonies Thursday.Mr. and Mrs. Lem Corns of Stuart Route 1 were presented the Bronze Star with the V for valor for army Cpl. Bobby L. Corns, who was killed in action June 19. The medal was presented by Lt. Bernard S. Wood of Roanoke.Cpl. Corns was cited for at-temping to aid fellow soldiers caught in a mortar attack near Due Co., South Vietnam. The official citation said Cpl. Corns disregarded his own safety inVrunning across a field under attack to aid other soldiers in a tent caught in the mortar attack. He was killed before reaching thetent.
