Uoijkkt Ward, our Captain, is a native of your town, where a number ot his relatives reside; among whom may be mentioned, Alex. Pearce, tho former editor ol the Democrat, and recently vonr Representative in thu State LegMaturc, who is his brother-in-law. Ward, and, from indications, ho is a favorite with tho Culonol aud all the officers of the regiment.We are assigned to tho 1st Virginia Cavalry Regiment, Col. II. Ahksavbal, who is a Frenchman, and has seen servico in tho armies of France. Lieut. Col. Richmond is an Ohioan, of undoubted military ability. lie is now in Wirt county, in |^ this State, with one company of our d regiment, attending to the “seceali” there, and from the accounts received from him, be is “cleaning them but” thoroughly.i Our company has received nearly all the uniform it is entitled to. Wcwill get our horses this week, therebeing one thousand head of cavalry horses now in the yards at this [dace, for our regiment.
