Langley, Phil-m adelphia.—Walter Dewey Brady, 20, seaman 1/c, 15 Seventh avenue northeast, Ardmore, Okla., came back home with this ship in time to take part in the observance of navy day after she had amassed a total of 11 battle stars for major engagements during 18 months of constant operations in the Pacific.Aboard the Langley when she dropped anchor at the port where she was commissioned Aug. 31, 1943, were more than 1200 officers and enlisted men, as well as more than 400 passengers bound for separation centers.Getting her baptism of fire at the Marshalls, the Langley subsequently took part in almost every engagement, including Okinawa, when she operated off the coast for 63 consecutive days.leJ. i Mannsville Man Returns
