As soon as order was obtained n song “To the Work” was sung ami prayer was offered by Elder Wright. Then “America” was sung by the audi ence, after which recitations and songu were indulged in until 11:30 o’clock when the audience adjourned until 1:30 o’clock, when we re-assembled and fin ished our program at the church for the day. A procession was formed ant’ marched back to the school house when: a tree was planted to the honor of the. day by the old soldiers and others. The following parties set the tree in position: W. T. Brydon, township trustee; J. W. Oldham, principal of Griffin school: Jno, Trethewy, Co. B., S7 HI.; B. F. Venters. 2nd North Carolina Co.. G. C. S. A; Wm. Sbepperd, Co.
