2Lt. Mittie Avant has completed the field artillery officer basic course at Fort Sill, Okla.She was taught basic artillery techniques and introduced to new weapons systems and doctrine.Lt. Avant is scheduled to serve with the U.S. Army Training center at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.She is a 1983 graduate of Alabama AM university at Normal, and is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Willie Avant of 1935 South Ashland avenue, Chicago Heights.
