The local boy is an Italian, the son of Frank Oregorwy, Kilsyth coal miner.But he went into Uncle Sam’s armed forces in a hurry when his nation got into the all-out walt; He told the story of his visit in a recent letter to his lather. The letter, in part follows:“Dear Dad“Haven't written for over a week b it I had a reason. All us okay here with me and I pray that •he same exists with you and the folks.“Here’s some good news! I went to Jtldly last week-end to see my mother. She Is well, and although she misses us she is happy. I spent three glorious days there and had a wonderful J time. She may be a hit aged In years hut she seems to look the same as she did twenty-one i years ago. She has a nice home j 1 in the old home town and all lt;the neighbors came over to see ' rtie during my brief stay there. I ' was really the king there, as (hey hadn't had news from the states and their loved ones lor years. I took plenty of presents to my aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives and left 5.000 lire with my mother that day I came back. That was a lot of money at one time.“No fighting went on in the old home town.“There is a scarcity of food ther° but mother said as long as the pigs lasted they'd live. Very little bread is available.“Sam Fite's brother and his 85--year-old father were over to Ithe house and looking well. I also saw relatives of Sam Sparacino I and others around Beckley and jMabsrott. jIn another letter, to his brother. Toney Gregory, also in the ar-n\y and -tationed in this country. , Sam told about visiting then I mother and said:“I left her your picture in uniform and she still has your picture in .Mount Hope football uniform the year you made the all-state team.”In the letter to his father the• ’ S bombardier ’old how he en-toyed the good food at the home 1 i ot his mother, despite the fact I• lint food is scarce in Sicily.
